My son is almost 18 months old..and i know that i am definatly a little bit overprotective with what i put into his tummy. He usually only gets natural foods without artificial flavors, colors, and no preservatives. I know that he's healthy because he's never been sick. But my husband keeps insisting that we feed him more normal foods like spaghettie and pizza. Is it safe to give pasta to a baby?????????????????????????????????

Yes, it's just fine. You can find whole-grain and organic pastas at specialty stores, if you like.

I completely undersatnd and respect where you are coming from as i like to make all my girl's food to know what is in there and that she is getting the best products but at the age of 18 months he should have 'normal' food...pasta is good for them...
I have been giving my girl pasta dishes since 7 months (she was never a fan of the purees, wanted more interesting food and more lumpy), one of her favourite dishes are pasta shells or stars (annabel karmel) with a tomato, carrot, cauliflower and cheese sauce....They should have starchy food like breads and pasta..but what i do is, sometimes give her annabel karmels baby pasta or i buy organic wholewheat pasta which i chop up in smaller buts after cookes..she loves it and i feel it is a bit healthier
She is almost 10 months now and i let her taste anything we have (as long as it doesn't contain anything bad or too much salt..have not introduced anythiung sweet part from fruits and raisins..) and she loves being part of what we do and she really does love all sorts of food now...i made a lasagne for her the other day (i always make a big batch and freeze some) and accidentally put a bit too much garlic in (well, it seemed a bit stronger than other) but she scoffed the lot and now she;s clapping whenever im serving her lasagne...i think if i just stick to the 'safe' (and in my opinion boring) veg and fruit mashes etc she'll get picky later so i try to be as creative as possible and make her meals we would have but obvioulsy without the salt and other 'no' things :)
Good luck and enjoy feeidng your son :)

Yes, My son is 13 months old and has been eating organic pasta since he was 7 months old. It's important to feed them healthy stuff but you also have to give them a variety of things. Pizza isn't going to hurt him if he doesn't eat it everyday. At his age he can eat everything you do but in small pieces.

Of course it is. Gerber even makes spaghetti in I believe, 3rd Foods. If you are concerned about health just give him the whole grain pastas.
I just wanted to add that restricting certain foods and then trying to give them to your kids later is what makes picky eaters. Let them try a variety of foods. My son had food off of our plates from 9 months on, if it was not too spicy, and at age 3, will eat just about everything. He even asks for 2nds on broccoli.

You can give him pasta, you can give him anything you eat, in modaration, since your "overprotective" in what you want him to have. I am the same way, but I give my son that whole wheat pasta and lots of veggies. He's 16 months and weights 231/2lbs at 331/2 in.

Yes, pasta is perfectly safe after 6 months. What you may find though, by delaying these new tastes and textures is that your baby refuses to eat them at this age.
