Plenty. But to make a long story -- or rather, stories LOL -- short, I'll just say that it tends to cause far more hassles than it's worth. Besides the obvious fact that all these names -- especially the common ones with uncommon spellings -- are constantly misspelled and even mispronounced, even simply substituting one letter ensures that the child will forever be known as an explanatory phrase, rather than their actual given name. :(

For instance, rather than being called "Shelly," little Shelli is forever referred to or introduced as "Shelly with an 'i.'" LOL Unfortunately akin to all the little girls currently being named "Nevaeh - Heaven spelled backwards." You can't simply be known by your actual name without constantly having the compulsory sub-line added on! And quite frankly, it gets old.

Definitely not something I'd do to my own child. If one likes a popular, familiar name, there's absolutely no valid reason to spell it incorrectly (unless the parents honestly had no clue HOW to spell their own child's name, which is just sad, really). And if it's a less common name you like, I definitely don't understand why anyone would choose an awkward spelling. I mean, the name's already unusual. No need to dumb it down, right? ;)

I also work at an attorney's office and I just opened a file on a little GIRL named: De'Markeleonna Ainey'akja'anion (I won't give out the last name.. but it only has 4 letters in it!) I feel so sorry for this little girl..

My name is Hanna and I'm constantly telling people that there is no 'h' at the end. I really love the unique spelling though. It's german. I also think that the name Klaire is pretty cool. Sometimes it's fun to have names with different spelling.

I also have a cousin named Cayesha, (pronounced Keisha), people are always spelling it wrong. She gets annoyed with it, but I think it's pretty.

I can't stand misspelled names. I changed the spelling of Kate to Kayt when I was twelve, and while I still use it out of stubborness, I wouldn't do that to a child.

People say Katie, which I understand, but I don't understand where they get Kat, Kit, Kitty, Kah-yat, Kay-it, Karl, Kah-yit, Carrie, or Kelly. WTF?

I have trouble getting my work email because it's Kayt_mylastname@mycompany.com and people send it to Kate_mylastname@mycompany.com. It gets very frustrating to not receive information when I ask for it, and frankly, some people just laugh at my name.

I have a pretty normal first name. But my last name seems to confuse people a lot.

What I find a bit annoying is when some people who have unusual spelling of their name get all ticked off when people misspell or mispronounce it.

Like the NFL football player - "Plexico Burress". It's a unique name as it is but he pronounces it "Plaxico" and gets annoyed when people pronounce it as "Plexico".

I mean, come on!

I have a very common name that is spelled grammatically correct but different than most. I guess it is not a big deal but I do sometimes get sick of people misspelling it and always having to say my name and then spell it when doing business.

I know a girl named Emmalee. I personally dislike the spelling. It has never affected me in any way and I believe the only bother shes delt with is probably when others spell it.

My granddaughter's name is Destyni, and I don't like it. I want to buy little license plates and Christmas ornaments with her name on it, but can't. The boys names are traditional spellings, so I can always get those, but I'm not getting anything for them that I can't get her too.

I have a friend that spells her name.
Jennyfer
Yes its not strange but if you pronounce it the way it looks its kinda funny
Her mom just though that was how it was spelled so that is how she got it.
It hasn't cause any problems in her life though
