-The Congress is, first of, 49% Republican.
-The Congress is, to most people, NOT LIBERAL ENOUGH to most Americans who know we never should have gone into Iraq in the first place.

For the 10 point award for best answer:
Why do Republicans deliberatly distort statictics. Is it to cover up how clueless and disgrace the Bush Adminsitration is?
(yep.)

Congress' approval rating started dropping not too long after the Democrats came in force. For that reason, I would conclude it is the Democrat's fault that the approval rating for congress is so low, because prior to 2006, it was pretty much a strictly conservative controlled executive and legislative branch.

And why would Democrats deserve a low rating? Well, for starters, many voted them in for two things: impeaching Bush and ending the war, so far they've done neither. OK, whatever, but at the same time they're not doing anything else, so they don't deserve a good approval rating.

With people liking or not liking Congress for it being majority Democrat or Republican should not have anything to do with Congress' popularity.

The reason it would be less popular than the president is because of the most obvious fact that Congress is condoning the president's actions by passing practically anything the president wants.

If Congress wants to be popular with the American populace, then it needs to LISTEN to the American populace. Now I will admit Republicans could easily distort the facts due to media control etc., but they can't distort the fact that Congress has condoned and helped the president into giving almost whatever the president wants.

Regardless of the leadership of rep or dem, we can pretty much call it an even split. Just like it has been an even split since the 107th Congress where it was 50-50 with Cheney deciding the split. And during the past, the republican controlled congress was blamed for everything that happened. The dems are in the leadership at the moment - take responsibility. It's your turn.

Well the poll that gave Bush a higher rating than congress was conducted by a liberal group and not conservative republicans. Naturally liberals want to blame someone when they learn something that does not make them happy. You need to look at the source of the report and not blindly blame republicans for NBC or CNN poll results. If you paid attention You would find both those groups are democrats all the way.

Here are the distorted facts in your question young one.

Republicans hold less than 49% of Congress.
Most Americans thought it was a good thing to go to Iraq in the first place. All of the polls showed this. Now that we have been there for 4 years only do you hear the people who want to come out and say see I told you so.

It's funny you base a whole question about distorted facts, then use distorted facts.

Because, unlike Congress who can't even pass a budget bill and wastes time passing the SCHIP bill they know will be vetoed, Bush actually gets things accomplished. You might not like it, but 1/3 of America does, and the Senate has done nothing. Also, because the Senate won't pass a budget, or even present one, 100,000 contractors may loose their jobs with the Pentagon. And the Dems say they're for the little people.

i'm greatly surprised. The final time I checked, the Congress had a splash larger approval score. It feels like Bush has stronger and that they have got declined. i ask your self whether that replaced into the inducement for the votes this week! all of it comes right down to the polls!

Polls show that the Congress has a very low rating largely because of the Republicans who obstruct the will of the people every chance they get. When taken out the Republicans still score low but Democrats fair much better.

My only complaint is that they are letting Bush get away with too much. They ought to say sign the Schip or no more money for Iraq. If he signs than he gets more for his little war. No sign, well he'll have to pay for it out of his own pocket.

Im laughing at this guy..
22 percent approval rating for Congress is not LOWER than Bush's 34 percent?
What planet do you live on ?
Put your kool aid down and take a look at the stats.
Even your lib media is reporting the facts on this issue all over the country... reluctantly.
****... it was just in the paper yesterday how the dems are blaming themselves.. Senate vs. the House for not getting anything done.
OH.. and I would happen to be one of those people who DOESNT approve of Bush!
Some people on here are just so partisan they ignore the facts. Its pathetic.

Because poll after poll after poll has stated it from all sources. Just because you don't understand or agree with why we went into Iraq, it does not correlate to it being the wrong decision. I personally support our actions in Iraq. I find that you are the one who is lacking in any mental capacity. If you made yourself more available to the truth, you would see that you have been duped in a major way by the media and a bunch of democrats who wanted the office back.
