They did not do so voluntarily. World War I caused the destruction of four major empires: The Ottoman Empire, the Russian Empire, the Austria-Hungarian Empire, and the German Empire. The Ottoman Empire was already on a steady decline throughout the 19th century, Russia collapsed to the Bolshevik Revolution, Austria-Hungary split up into a bunch of different countries, and the Second Reich was utterly demolished in Germany.

I think you are asking why the Ottoman empire and Germany were allies in WWI. Recall the old adage, "The enemy of my enemy is my friend." Germany was fighting Russia. Russia had been a constant enemy of the Ottoman empire for centuries.
Simple answer but this is this the basic reason.

The Ottoman Turks were in decline, hence their nickname "The sick man of Europe" & their empire was ravished by rebellions led by the British in an effort to divert Turkey's attention from the European front.
The more famous aspect of the Arab rebellion was led by Thomas Edward Lawrence - better known as Lawrence of Arabia.
The Germans lost East Prussia to Poland & Alsace-Lorraine to France as punishment stipulated in the Treaty of Verailles (refered by the Germans as the Versailled Diktat)

Ottoman empire and German ideology were mostly alike. A Pasha From Ottoman Empire who was ''Enver Pasha'' had a german wife and he was a fan of german culture.
He put ottoman empire in that war.
