In a way it does make sense but i would write....
After surviving the island for 120 days and bearing the burden of three of the fellow boys that died, the boys were finally rescued.

The boys were finally rescued, after surviving on the island for 120 days. But, they were still bearing the burden of the two boys who had died.

After surviving on the island for 120 days the boys were finally rescued but they still carried the burden of three of their friends who died.

Yes, it makes sense. It would be more grammatical to say
"Finally the boys were rescued, having survived for 120 days on the island. They carried with them the burden of the (knowledge of the) deaths of three of their companions."

Depending on your meaning, you can include or exclude the bit in brackets.
