My husband flipped it on and off again...We thought the dryer was dead, so we went out and got a new one...Now I'm thinking I made a mistake with that..(old dryer, so that's alright I guess) So, you don't just flip it off and on again..UGH..I need to wash my clothes!

Tripping it didn't work..So, how much is a new breaker? Is it just having to replace the old one that doesn't work? I'm clueless when it comes to these things! I'm just used to the screw in fuses..Thanks!

Bill is correct. Have an electrician take a look. He will bring a volt meter and will tell you for sure what the problem is. If it is a bad circuit breaker he can safely change it. If it is something else, he can fix it without wasting money on a circuit breaker you don't need.

Don't take electrical advise from untrained and unqualified people. That is dangerous and foolish.

So is it working now? As previously stated, you have to turn the breaker OFF before you turn it on. By moving the toggle to the off position, you reset the breaker. Do this first and then try the new dryer. If it works, great! If not, you probably need a new breaker installed. Best to get an electrician or a friend who is experienced in this.

If you tripped or burned the breaker, your old dryer was probably shorted out anyway. Chances are, you didn't waste your money with the new dryer. Enjoy it!

Please don't listen to these answers. If you don't know a thing about electricity stop right there. It could be the buss bar is damaged, the 30 amp breaker or one leg of the feed or in the receptacle box. This is nothing to be playing with or guessing, let an electrician take a look form inside the panel all the way to the dryer. There is not enough money in the world to bring back someone lost in a fire, especially one that could have and should have been prevented

Calling a electrician to come and check this out for you would have been cheaper than buying a new dryer and you would have already been able to wash and dry clothes..If you do not have a meter to check out the electrical be safe call the electrician...

If you shut the breaker "off" then "on" and you still have no power, it could be either breaker or plug.

DO NOT CHECK THE PLUG WITHOUT THE PROPER INSTRUMENTS AND KNOWLEDGE WHILE THE BREAKER IS "ON".

If checking these two item and you still have no power you really should call an electrician.

Breakers are pretty cheap Like $10 or so Its the labor to install it that will cost ya.Electricians are one of those trades that think they are some kind of god and charge accordingly.Changing a breaker is not for the faint of heart and yes IT CAN BE DANGEROUS if not done properly. However as "they" say It ain't rocket science either and can be done safely by a homeowner.
