FOR THE LOVE OF GOD!! YES!! YES!! YEEEEEEEEEESSS!! Sorry, my Raider Rant there.

Russell is a very good QB and they paid a LOT of money for him...so...I don't know...USE HIM!! Geebus. At least we know he's fast enough that if the line doesn't hold (as usual) then he can run! OMG! Imagine that.

It isn't about how good he is compared to McCown.

The Raiders season is over. The reason he isn't starting is that the Raiders want to be very careful with him.

It can take quite a while for an NFL QB to get up to speed with the pro game. The league is littered with "can't miss" prospects thrown into starting roles too soon that failed.

The Raiders want to use him in a situation he can do well in, which means not having the pressure of starting against the defending champs.

well probably not, russel will get creamed by the colts, just like monday night against the raven. give mccown the colts and give russell some easy pass defences for the rest of the season to give him confidence

The front office - Al Davis - is pushing hard for him to start, but this would be a very difficult spot for him to make a starting debut. He will play, though, and the key now is to put him in the best situation as possible in this lost season & gear up to buid the team around him in 2008.

Should anyone answer this question AGAIN? Will we see this question 10 more times tonight? Sorry dude, someone asks this question at least twice a day. He SHOULD have started from the beginning. Get the experience... he has an NFL body already so let him take some hits, reps and get his head in the game. They can't do worse. Peyton Manning started his rookie year, first game, BAM right into the fire. That worked out pretty well. Thanks for the two points.

It won't matter...The Raiders have no chance...I think I would stick with McCown against the Colts...It won't be pretty...

I would say let him start, but the Colts D is a tough one to judge. You would want more preperation against such a tough defense. I would say start him against a lower ranked Pass Defense, one that Russel might have some time in the pocket to collect himself. You want to build a young QB's confidence. You want to teach him to swim before you toss him in a pool and say good luck.

he should have started long before now but.........................
now that it is so late in the season let him sit. why risk injury physical or mental? there is not enough of a season left to get him beat up. he made the decision to hold out at the beginning of the year so no sense in wasting him now. start next season fresh after an off-season of workouts and time with his receivers.

no, because he is still not ready to start, and if they do start him, I don't care how much talent you have if you get killed in ur first couple starts it will always be in ur mind. They should keep letting take a few series in a game at certain times, and then increasing the workload.
