This may be the most important pro-rights gun bill to come down in many years.

The Gun-Free-Zone Liability Act is a common-sense bill that would help protect the public. Resisting its reasonable provisions requires taking the moral low ground -- that you have no right to defend yourself. "If you create a gun-free zone, you're liable for any harm it causes."

Even withouth this legislation, Virginia Tech is already feeling the legal heat and may be held liable for preventing students from protecting themselves:

And rightfully so

Yes! They should be held responsible for causing people to actually believe that there are no guns in a "gun-free" zone, with the gun that shot someone (or the family dog) in the "gun-free" zone!
All "Gun-free" Zone means, is, all law-abiding citizens don't have guns. The criminals do though!

Yes if the idiots that made laws had to suffer along with the ones they are harming it would be great.
Unfortunately there are already laws in place that protect all government employees from lawsuits as long as they are performing their duties with no malice intended.

Well hell yes. Let us open the doors for guns in court rooms, federal buildings, high schools, kindergarten, air ports and everywhere. Lets go back to the good old wild west days. Lets create a million billy the kids. I am a gun owner and support 2ND amendment rights but this may be the stupidest law I have ever heard. Let me get this straight in my mind. We don't want background checks at gun shows but we want to punish someone trying to protect our people because of what a crazy person does. The NRA fights laws that make you liable if someone steals your gun and kills someone with it but supports this? This is so pathetically hypocritical it makes me want to puke.

Does "gun free zone" really mean anything? They used to have "nuclear free zones" where I live and I always considered them nothing more than liberal waste.

Just what we need. More people like that idiot in Texas who shot two guys in the back for robbing his neighbors house.

If a town essentially creates a "guns for everyone" zone and an innocent person is shot would the town be liable?

i agree. if you create a gun free zone and some idiot starts blasting in that area without any resistance. then the person who created that "RETURN FIRE-FREE ZONE" should be held responsible.
