The thing is you never now with your parents!
The best thing is to ask some good friends, make sure they know you really need them to answer honestly, if you don't trust their answer or want a second opinion,
why don't you record yourself, and upload it to youtube or something? Then you can ask the question again here with a link to you singing. (warning, you may get some cruel comments even if you are a good singer)

they could be trying to make you feel good about yourself
but the only way you can truly know if your voice is up to scratch is by recording your voice
just get a tape and recording equipment.
these days you can record with anything... your mp3 player can record voice, your mobile phone, your web cam just anything which records voice
dont play a song in the background otherwise it will mask your true voice
and just sing. easy.

Best way to tell..
Record yourself on the computer
then listen to it while trying to be a hard critic (sp?)
that way you wont just here it in your head, you'll hear it like other people hear it.
If you still cant decide, upload it on youtube and get people to comment saying how good they think you are. Lots of people do it :)

They are probably being truthful. Your own parents are the last people who are likely to lead you on. If you are uncertain, you should ask your friends or teachers, or someone you know who can be completely honest with you. : )

try singing at a kareoke event and see what the audience reaction is too your singing.parents can tend to be a bit biased.gluck

they mean't it....be happy that they have noticed how good you are...if you want to make your voice stronger, get some lessons in...it will help your breathing.....i know from experience...i'm a singer and i do it for a living...
