If you had an electric guitarist, a bass guitarist, and a drummer, should the electric guitarist use a loop station to carry the sound?

Hell yeah dude. There's more pressure on the the guitarist not to screw up. It takes a lot more pressure making the riffs come out on time and you are limited a little more on which songs you can play. I have the Boss 20XL and it gives us that 4 piece sound when the other guitar isn't there. It would be better in the long run to find another guitarist but if you cant, the loop station is
an alternative.

Not really. There are many good three piece bands that do well as a trio. If your the Bassist remember this;YOU carry the band.
