Ive had a negative balance in my checking account for about a month now, as I had several unexpected emergencies come up Any ways, I get a letter today from my bank saying that they processed a withdrawal from another account, and now my statement online reads that my balance is at 0.00. I have no idea what they are talking about. Does this mean that there was some error, or some good samaritan took care of this? My friend says he thinks that some outside company paid it off, and now I have a debt with them instead. By the way, the even though the letter has my bank's letterhead on it, it is from a company called STA2LOS...Any ideas?

Did you have any $ in your Savings account? Have you tried calling your bank and asking them? I can guarantee it wasn't a "good samaritan". Either a collection agency bought your debt, or they pulled $ from another of your accounts to pay it off. Sounds like it's probably the first scenario though.

Either overdraft protection of a scam.
If you lack overdraft protection, contact your bank directly [NOT on any number from the letter you recieved!] and find out if they had anything to do with it. Your data may have been leaked/sold by an employee or obtained by a scam artist.

I would think that an outside company buying your debt is extremely unlikely given only one month negative.

BTW ... Google returns nothing much for "STA2LOS". You may want to spend some time digging in the ripoff report. [ripoffreport.com] on your bank and the source of this letter.

i would take the letter to the bank and ask to talk to a manager (go with hat in hand and be prepared for bad news) something smells bad here and i think the bank will want to dig into it!!!!
