Of course they will.
- First the stores will want to get rid of last year’s model.
- Second the stores will want to cut their inventory down so they don't have to pay to store them and because in January they are going to do an inventory and have to pay taxes on the stock they have.
- Third the retailers have to make up their bottom line before the end of the year to justify their profit and loss statements so a last ditch chance to sell anything is why after Christmas sells are so common.
Personally, I am waiting until after Christmas to see if there are any great deals out there. This year has been forecasted to be poorer than last year and in response retailers like Wal Mart started pushing sales even earlier then usual. Since they are still not going to match last year’s sales they will be forced to try and make it up in the after Christmas Sales.
In fact I would recommend shopping for Christmas and Birthdays of 2008 in the last two weeks of 2007 after Christmas when the retailers will be working hard to get rid of all their stock.
Since sales will be depressed I don't think you will be settling for the few things that remain as usual, but instead this year you will have a wider range of stock available. So if you are flexible in your notebook requirements then you can get what you want. Remember that you can always up grade the hard drive and memory, but you are stuck with the screen size. Most notebooks should have integrated wireless capability and most should have DVD-CW R/W drives, but in many cases these are easy to upgrade as long as the slot for it is there. The basic processor and the graphics card are almost impossible to upgrade so they should be you major concerns and I wouldn't settle for anything less than a dual core processor. I would also recommend that you get Windows XP since the drivers for Windows XP don't work for Windows Vista.

Depends what the specs are.
Laptops are always on sale though.
If you need the laptop for something wait as long as possible before you buy it because technology advances so quickly.
My guess is youll be able to find a similar laptop for the same price at any point of time, maybe not cheaper though.

I'm not too sure. It depends where you buy it. Best Buy might actually have a after Christmas sale, so I would just watch the prices.
