hockey hands down. Football is better on TV where you can see replays. Hockey your closer to the action and can actually see plays develop. Football you so far from the field its hard to see what is going on. Hockey is so much faster of a game it doesnt show well on TV, you have to be there !

Hockey is much better live. In football there is so much waiting for stuff to happen. Then the million TV time outs. That why there is only like 20 minutes of actually play in a three hour game. Use a stop watch and you would be surprised. Hockey is always moving and the play is always happening. TV times outs are few. So there is a lot more game going on in hockey.

The difference is between bad Hockey and bad Football. Even a mid-season game between 2 non-playoff teams in hockey as some good ole' Donny Brocks and Tussles but the NFL they are going through the motions

I think the question is a little more difficulut to answer than just which is better to watch live, hockey or football. First of all, on average, any college football event is better than any pro football event. Now being from Michigan, both the college football and hockey programs are excellent and steeped in their own traditions and cheers. Really, in my personal opinion, hockey is more interesting live because there are fewer stoppages in play and lot more flow.

If there's any sport that needs to be experienced live, it's hockey. When you can see the whole ice and watch plays developing, it enhances the game in a big way. And there is nothing - absolutely nothing - that compares to watching a playoff game in overtime. You can just feel the tension.
As for football, it's much better on TV. I had season tickets for an NFL team, and I found that I got more out of the game by recording it on the PVR and watching it when I got home. It's a pretty static sport at times, and the only advantage you gain by watching it live is the crowd's enthusiasm.

Hockey is the best sporting event live, hands down. Football is good, but you have to be close to the field, hockey it doesn't matter where you sit, it's always great.
You will always hear sports guys say that the NHL playoffs live is the best spectacle in sports.

Hockey. I've been to an Argos' game and, I'm not sure whether it was the seating or not, but it looked like all the players were jumbled together and it was quite boring. For some reason, football's better watched on tv.

Hockey. My husband got tickets to an NFL game (preseason), and even though it was the first one I'd been to, I was bored to tears.
Now hockey...I can never get tired of live hockey.
