Easy now, let's not sell the farm on James VanRiemsdyk quite yet. He has the makings to be a solid NHLer. Much too early to tell, he could still be better than Kane, as could Kyle Turris for that matter. I don't think that Kane can be considered the best of the draft class after less than a half of a season when many of the others have not even gotten a chance to show their worth in the NHL.
I have serious questions on whether Kane would be in the NHL right now if he was drafted by the Flyers. The Blackhawks were in a situation where they can throw their youngsters out there and give them the ice time they need, the same could probably not have been said for the Flyers.
Take for instance, the situation of Flyer pick from 2 years ago, Claude Giroux, very talented but wasn't going to make the Flyers this year.
So even if the Flyers won the lottery and drafted Kane (they would not have drafted Kane anyways), he would not be in the NHL right now so he would be no help to the Flyers.

Philadelphia had no interest in Patrick Kane. They wanted James vanRiemsdyk. Had Chicago taken vanRiemsdyk, Philadelphia was taking Kyle Turris.

Philadelphia knew at the draft that they were the leader in the Briere sweepstakes and Kane AND Briere would not have been a good fit.

Patrick Kane hasn't scored a goal in 13 games. You probably would have booed him(in philly u boo at ppls dead grandmas) and would have asked a question like this instead: Does Kane suck? :-D
