Tommy G ...Since 1962, federal revenue from progressive taxes (in which higher income people pay a higher tax percentage than lower income) dropped by 17%. Federal income from regressive taxes (which place a higher burden on those with lower income) increased by 135%. Since 1980, taxes on inheritance and investment have dropped by 31% while taxes on income derived from work have increased by 25%. Between 2000 and 2003, corporations (the institutions that perpetuate and insulate the plutocracy) saw their contribution to federal revenue through taxes fall by 36%.

One could argue that this new bill which is intended to help homeowners keep their home in lieu of the recent mortgage disaster is primarily helpful to the working class.
Still, he's a Republican! Republicans function based on trickle-down theory. Democrats are the ones who push social reforms that help the working class (or at least in theory they're supposed to) but there's a whole other can of worms that socialism opens up.
Uncle Benito: The idea is that the working class needs help where the rich does not--they're already got means! I'm not a leftist by any stretch of the imagination, but that's pretty obvious to me.

Tax cuts? Wait... no that helped everyone. Hmmm. Well, why should he promote programs that only help working class families? Shouldn't he advocate programs that benefit all, or as many as possible?

Congress has never passes a law that is for the benefit of the people. That only happens as a by product of special interest legislation.

He helped create a lot more part-time jobs (as opposed to full-time with benefits), so that more people could work 2 or more lower paying jobs and lose their health insurance. Wasn't that nice.

School vouchers.
And to help all...self-directed social security.
By the way, the tax cuts helped the poor more than the wealthy, but you would not understand the economics of it. To put it simply, I received $25K in tax relief, and in the last 5 years, directly and indirectly because of that tax relief, I hired 5 more people with a combined salary of over $600K. Tax revenues went up, jobs went up, incomes went up, unemployment went up. That tax cut "for the rich" helped 5 people who were earning much less improve their financial situation 100%+...and this kind of job creation happeded a LOT!

None, he has said a million times that he will not support any measure that only helps certain people. Why should he?
The rich pay 80% of the taxes in this country, the rest is paid by the middle class. please help me understand why we should give the 20% more benefit than the 80%?
