I'm a teacher it does not help students in the slightest.

It just shows the pure lazyness of some of them!

Teachers aren't dumb we can tell straight away when they haven't done it!

Have a nice christmas!

It doesn't help them half the answers are wrong and if they need help they have their teacher to ask! I'd quite happily spend 15 minutes with them after school if I knew it helped but they just cheat over this by getting incorrect answers! So frustrating for the teachers as for UK we need Edexcel or AQA answers but were getting American ones mainly and its different and wont help them!

Even if you don't give the answers it still isn't helping because you teach the student the way there exam will want it answered so someone will be telling them something different (may well be true) but when the student comes to write that in their exam they will get 0.

I don't know if it should be banned or not because it could be a help. Obviously when someone asks for an answer that doesn't help them. I'm always surprised at how many people just give them the answers. (Sometimes I'm a jerk and I give them a plausible but wrong answer...sshhhhh.... don't tell anyone)

I have seen some on there, not many, genuinely asking for help but NOT an answer. Those I try to help. Besides, they also ask "homework" questions in other categories. For example they'll ask a history question in the history section. I think, they think, they're fooling people. I guess they are because they seem to get less "Do your own homework" type answers that way.

I completely agree. I don't think they should remove it from the YAnswers because if a student is going to ask this question, then they will post it somewhere else.
It does show pure lazyness. I have answered several questions telling the student to research on wikipedia or google to find the answer.
The homework help might be beneficial for those who need it and are not lazy.

No, I don't think the homework help section should be banned.
I gave it serious thought before answering questions in that section, and came to the conclusion that it was OK to give help, in the sense of pointing people in the right direction, but not to do the work for them.
This was the approach I took with my own children, and it seemed to serve them quite well. Some of the questioners sound anxious and lonely rather than lazy - so a 'friend' onlne might be quite supportive and helpful.
I also quite often give advice about revision techniques and ways of memorising things, which students often find helpful, and which, it seems, they don't learn in school.
I think I act responsibly in answering in this section .

I would consider banning homework help anywhere as the equivalent to making a yellow belt judo student take on a third degree black belt judo instructor with one foot in a bucket of cement! Why do educators deliberately make education difficult for student is something I have never ben able to understand!

Nice spelling Stabby. Part of homework is learning how to use correct grammar and spelling also.

I do think that homework help should be limited. What is even more frustrating are the PARENTS coming on here asking for help with their kids projects. Kids have homework to learn how to do things correctly, not to breeze through and copy.

What's scary is what will their work behaviour be? Cheating and lazyness are raising a bunch of deadbeats. That's scary.

Thank you....i'm not sure if it should be banned entirely but i think that person's answering should try to limit their answers...so instead of actually telling the correct answer they should just try to guide them along the way to the answer . Most times some of the answers on here aren't correct anyway so....too bad the student trusts yahoo answers homework help enough to just copy whatever and not try to do it themselves...in the end they are only hurting themselves because Yahoo answers Homework help won't be there for Final Exams or any exam on the whole!

I think that it is ok as long as the answerers aren't giving them the answers, just explaining what the concepts of the problem are

Absolutely. I try to help without giving the full answer or doing the work for them but most just answer their questions.
