I've seen so many questions about Madonna - based on what she has accomplished over the years, she qualifies to be in the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame....

Other artists include Hank Williams & The Sex Pistols, neither of which are Rock N Roll by "our" definition...

You did notice the part where it said "The Foundation’s nominating committee," right? That is the problem with the process. They have been known to let personal bias affect their nominations in an effort to get more people to attend the induction ceremony (and thereby make more money for the hall). That's why it's considered a joke. Madonna doesn't deserve to be there ahead of Alice Cooper, Motor City Five, Iron Maiden or The Misfits.

***Yeah. I thought that was funny. But I don't have a problem with other genres in the hall. I would be fine with it, if it was the music hall of fame. I just don't like the little oligarchy they have on the nomination process.

Hank Williams was a major country artist in the 1940s and early 1950s. He died in 1953, which was before "Rock Around The Clock", considered to be the first rock and roll song ever, came out. While he was a great artist, I don't think he really belongs in that particular hall of fame. Another artist I also don't think really belongs is Conway Twitty. While he started out as a rock and roller, he switched to country music and became a major star. He belongs in that music's hall of fame, not the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame.

I disagree that the Sex Pistols are not rock, punk was a form of rock just on a different level. By that logic, The Ramones shouldn't be in either. As for Hank Williams, I agree that he is not rick and shouldn't be in, he was all Country & Western.

Well, I could pick Jimi Hendrix... But, you unnoticed one foremost band member... Or, possibly 2... Jimmy Paige, and, Robert Plant. Led Zeppelin does belong within the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

I'm not included in "our" definition of rock, seeing as punk is a perfectly valid sub-genre of that category as far as I'm concerned. I for one thought it was funny when the Pistols decided to blow the whole thing off.

Hey, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame lost its appeal for me when they started inducting pop acts. When they ignored Lynyrd Skynyrd, the voice of the 70s, they really blew it.

I guess we all just expect too much rock and roll from our rock and roll. ;-)
