Is Oprah being honest with the largely female fans she encourages to be strong and fearless, and yet she supports Obama and campaigns for him. Not because he's the best person for the job because he just does not qualify there. Because he can make a change? That's a standard promise. Why then is she being such a hypocrite?

I am not suggesting she endorse Hillary. What I am saying is she is a feminist, caters to women, gets them to buy her books, her views, tells them how to live, what to think-why would she endorse someone like Obama?

I do know that Oprah is losing some of her fan base for coming out and supporting Obama. I believe I saw an article or something that compared her to Charlie Chaplin. It said he had come out and made a political statement and the world never forgave him since.

Hypocrite?? Oprah endorsing Hillary Clinton just because she is a woman, as you are suggesting she do, would make her a hypocrite. She is endorsing someone who she believes is most qualified to run this country, and has the vision she most agrees with. True strong and fearless women have the courage to think with their own minds and cast a vote for the person they feel is right for the job, regardless of race, gender, or religion.

She is supporting him because he is black. But I don't like the fact you suggested she should support Hillary for President only because she is a woman. I think Oprah shouldn't meddle in politics. She should stick to her afternoon soap dramas.

She's supporting the person she thinks will do the best job. If Ann Coulter was running for president along with 7 men, would you expect Oprah to back Ann because she's a woman? That's a very narrow view, IMHO.

Isn't it alright to do both if you strongly believe in them? I take her at her word that she is not supporting Obama because he is black but because she feels he will make the best President of all those who are running. That's not being at all hypocritical.

I wasn't aware that gender was the preeminent qualification for President. Has it occurred to you that Oprah finds more in Obama's position statement with which she agres than in that of Clinton?
I'm a white male...does that mean that I would be incorrect to vote for either of them?

This does not sound like someone who encourages women to be strong. It sounds like someone who is trying to start a cult.

I think Oprah supports both; her race & her gender. In this particular case the race won, but it was probably just one of the many reasons. However, like all humans, she has been wrong before.

She just doesn't believe that there are any woman running for president, who are qualified. There is nothing hypocritical about that.

If she is truly backing who she thinks is best then she is still a champion. Never back a candidate on gender only!
