Are we not allowed to post what ever we want on Yahoo Answers as long as its not againt the law? Why should people who post law obiding comments be reprted if it is not unlawful and just degrading to some ones ego? We should be able to speak our minds freely on YA. This is America, not China or Russia. I think our First Amendment rights could possibly be violated here. What do Y'all think?

This question has been asked dozens of times and the answer is always the same, Y/A is a private site and you agree to their terms of service when you sign up. You don't have any first amendment rights on Y/A, the first amendment applies to Congress and the State legislatures not sites like YAhoo. Is it really that hard for you to refrain from insults, vulgar language, rants, and the other terms of service? If you don't like Y/A answers, their are other forums where you can swear and insult people if that is what you are into.

Actually, Yahoo doesn't DO anything. I sometimes wonder if there are even humans working there. It is members who "report" your posts and get them deleted. Being a private company website, your only "rights" are to obey the Community Guidelines or leave the site.

Y'all thinks it's Yahoo's forum. They have set the guidelines. I personally think the guidelines are aribitrary and capricious, but they're Yahoo's rules. No first amendment violations here.

Yahoo is a business and when it comes to what they want on a chat/answers network they can set the rules. I is true they can't make everybody happy, that's not possible, but by not allowing certain messages that would offend most people they are covering their buts. it's smart business, what can I say.

Yahoo could shut down Answers all together if they wanted.

It is THEIR website, THEIR rules.

The first admendment protects our right to not be arrested for speaking freely. However, speaking in certain unmoral ways can be against rules.

For example, you can't swear at your teachers in school. It's against school rules. You would get in trouble for it because it is inappropriate.

Also, the first admendmant does not include hate speak. You can't be racist or hateful to certain groups.

Yahoo has guidelines that participants must follow if they CHOSE to post on Answers. You know that upfront.

If you don't follow the guidelines, you get violated.

If you don't like the rule.....go play somewhere else.

Rules are rules. You choose to be a participant on yahoo answers and to abide by the rules. This is not a violation since you agreed to abide by the set rules.

No, Yahoo is "Private Space", funded by advertisers, so their community guidelines are legal.

The First Amendment covers your right to free speech, within reason, in public spaces, or on your own private internet site.

Fascist conditioning has prevailed. "Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is TELL THEM THEY ARE BEING ATTACKED, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country." Hermann Goering - Nazi Party Member, Nuremburg Diary

I don't think you have the right to insult people you don't know. Yahoo and teh people on this site have the right to violate you. If not, that little button wouldn't be there. Their game, their rules.
