It was kind of hushed over by the press...do you think the British should have apologised or at least the British fans punished in some way? They also ruined the fight with strange singing and throwing debris into the ring...

Not at all. They showed their lack of class for the world to see. They do have a reputation for being poor sports in soccer as well.
I believe the outcome of the fight was not to their liking as well!

So we should get all bent out of shape at every miniscule thing that even comes close to insulting us and our nation? Good grief! They were hooligans and if the crowd didn't do anything about it at the time than why worry about it. People are too damn sensitive about minutia these days. By the way it was at a boxing match not the Metropolitan Opera. Different crowds and different events so one can expect different behaviors.

They booed our anthem, our guy beat the shizzle out of their fighter. Let 'em be jerks, the best response is to point out who was standing at the end of the fight.

There are two guys who are suppose to beat the other to near death to win, and you want the people who would pay money to see that to behave nicely?
