It is the accepatance of suffering thet keeps humanity from working toward an ideal. 'what doesnt kill you will make you stronger' Nietzsche. Yes the suffering that doesnt destrot your spirit, will indeed make you more resilient to future and further ideals. As will a bout of cancer or some other life threatening disease, or accident but you wouldnt state disease as essential to character forming or spirit strengthening, would you..?. Stress anger and venomous vitriol are toxic. In the way that paint stripper poured onto a natural wood surface would erode and destroy the very fabric, as it is with poisonous or negative emotions of those who suffer much and ensure that all around them also suffer in turn. This toxicity creates what is ageing, a alck of understanding causes undue suffering. Two types of stress, positive and negative. Positive stress raises adrenaline, and encourages us to act, or compete. Negative stress, helplessnness in a situation deemed overwhelming destroys psyche..

suffering is part of life and it makes us who we are.. there are things i suffered in the past which have helped me to live through other events more easily... i am sure that suffering is a type of stimulus that makes us think in different ways and is an important part of life that helps with complacancy and helps us to understand other people also. suffering is also on so many levels.. you have people starving who dont know when or how they will eat next.. equally someone is suffering when thier supermarket runs out of thier favourite wine? 2 completely different things but to an induvidual just aws much suffering. so its hard to guage.
to surmise i have suffered and i am living.. hand in hand
sometimes i feel like i am surviving and not living but surviving is to live when you consider other people suffer and die.
its such a broad thing to say when there are so many walks in life.. lets hope that we all get to live somewhere one day without any suffering but with the knowledge of suffering so as to never to abuse the gift of life

Life is living each moment to the fullest. While there may be time of pain and suffering they only make us stronger and better able to handle the trials that life may throw at us. Your statement makes no sense in the reality of life.

dukha (suffering) is part of life whatever realm you inhabit (except the realm of the gods but as it is not possible for this to be a final incarnation you will encounter suffering again), when we escape that we achieve nirvahna, which is the very opposite of living as there is no death

Yea. I don't like suffering. When I'm sick, I can't live a normal life. But when I'm better I feel like the world is at my doorstep.

What a load of codswallop! It's when we can accept and remain calm while in the midst of suffering, that's when we truly begin to live.

Life includes suffering, without adversity you can never experiance triumph.
If you never suffered you would only experience half of lifes emotions.

Not so.

'Suffering' is (also) a part of what is termed as 'Living.' Ipsofacto, the two do run hand in hand and in paralel wirh each other.

"We are healed from suffering only by experiencing it to the full." -Marcel Proust

Suffering makes us who we are, and I believe offers us our most engaging learning experiences. To live without suffering isn't really living at all.
