Sure it would be different. Let's say that string theory is correct, and we can find a nice, unexpanded universe a few dimensions over, and tap the energy of a few billion stars instead of burning fossil fuel. That would change our world.
Or if women were diurnal, and men were nocturnal, and we led (even more) separated lives.
Or if Hannibal had conquered Rome, and the Med was ruled by a merchant empire, instead of Rome's military empire? There might not have been 300 years of persecution of Christians, or the same forced migrations of loosing tribes. We might speak Anglish, instead of Angle/Saxon/Norman mixed into English.

Are you depressed? I think you might be or something is wrong in your life that you cant defeat.
Yes everything happens for a reason and if it didnt happen then things would have a diff out come. Example... if you dont eat then you die... if you eat then you would not die. If its winter then trees lose leaves if it was warm then the leaves would be there still. Everything in life has reasons.
