I have a coin that i 1 franc?

I live in calif. and i guess i got this coin as a quarter from a store. is this coin from 1977 from canada or france? thank...

if you have a franc, it is old style French money. They stopped using the franc when they switched over to the Euro in 2002. Unless there is some minting flaw on the coin, it is of value only to collectors. It hasn't been out of circulation long enough to be considered rare.

A 1977 Canadian quarter will have an Elk on one side and Queen Elizabeth on the other. Will be same size as US quarter but heavier and magnetic.
