It's actually a book by Richard Matheson about the last man on earth.
An epidemic sweeps the earth turning people into zombie/vampire-like creatures if they are infected and is about the life of the only person not infected.
It's going to F*cking ROCK. They've actually already made this book into a movie twice before "I Am Omega" and something else I don't remember the name of...you could probably imdb it and find more.

Think Resident Evil with one human left. Yep, it's a zombie movie that involves a man made product, this case a cure for cancer, that went wrong and caused most of humanity to turn into zombies.
