When living overseas, there are so many household and childcare chores a couple has to do by themselves, without help from family or servants.

On the other hand, they have less interference from in-laws and nosy relations.

So in general, do you think Indian couples living overseas enjoy life more than the ones living in India?

Yeah, your right about the in-laws and relations, but nonetheless, its a whole different experience. Sometimes it feels like your missing out on the life there and hope that one day you will go back, other times these new places have such great advantages that moving back would be impossible. Nevertheless, it really depends on the person and the situation. Some are happy, some are not. Like the say, the grass is always greener on the other side.

People who do not have families in India and were not much settled there, financially, like overseas better, coz there they know, they'll be busy and content, and yeah so much b'coz of impossible to stand in-laws and realtives. But people with huge families, relatives in India and who were very much settled in India, like had a house, well paid job d servants and all, alwayz want 2 go back. And even some ppl miss India. And ppl sometimes are scared b'coz of racial disc.

I don't think all of them would be happy, no matter how much freedom u've got & there is no interference from in laws but still Indians are used to living together in close knit relationships & at some point of time every couple staying abroad away from their parents & relatives do feel lonely & depressed especially in times of medical or other emergencies.

Every body adopt the place where they are living, but mental satisfaction is impotent, some are happy here and some are happy in India,it's all depends on individual. Some people are only born to make completes so they are not happy any where.

the happiness of any couple - be it indian or any nationality does not depend upon where they live. It depends upon hte love, warmth, care, peace and comfort that they have in their relationship. If all those feelings and aspects are there in a marraige, be in india, US, Saudi arabia or Arctic circle, the couple is bound to be happy.

No. in laws and noisy relations are still there. But ur neighbors tend to leave u alone, because the odds of them not being from ur same culture are really good...so they leave you alone. But I think most are happier in their country of origion. My folks came to the states when they were in their late twenties...and they still love india. But I love the states, even if it's not perfect.

Hi there,
That is really a myth...
Every household has its own problems whether in india or outside...
Maybe very rarely, few families may say that they are happy in abroad than in India...
but they would have sacrificed too much...too much...at the cost of their own comforts in their own mother country...
best wishes..

Maybe and maybe not.

Happiness is a personal and social concept. Some like people and relatives, some like to keep their distance. Some like household matters, some don't.

This is not defined by a geographical allocation.
