wife's pair of melons were much smaller, so I told her to put them back and get the larger canteloupes. She got offended, and stormed out of the supermarket, what did is say that was so wrong?

Melons, huh? Goes a long ways beyond "melons", me thinks. No wife would be offended if you were comparing cantaloupes....as a joke, even. And I bet this isn't the first instance of comparative shopping you've done. If you wanted bigger melons, then you should have thought of that before you asked her to marry you. Keep your eyes "in your own melon patch", buddy.....at least when your wife is around. I know you guys gotta look, but do your looking when it isn't offensive to someone you are supposed to love more than your own life. I'm sure you wouldn't think it was funny if she did some "shopping" in the "zucchini" section, either. As for leaving you, I wouldn't blame her.

If you are just joking with the readers, then ha ha. There's your courtesy laugh. If you were joking with your wife, and you seriously don't know what you did wrong... you need courtesy lessons.

If in fact you are this insensitive, and she has actually married you, then her response in the store wasn't because this is the first time you've pulled such a stunt. I'd suggest you ease up on making her the butt of your jokes, because you may find yourself laughing all alone.

No one likes to be laughed at. Ever. Often we join in, but what people want more than anything is to be loved and appreciated just as they are. For as many times as I suspect you have laughed at her and humililated her, I suggest you double that amount and set that number as a goal for how many times you should compliment her in public and privately, as well.

If your joking is seriously that out of control, check deep inside and see if there is something about you that is keeping you from getting and staying close to your wife. And be glad that she didn't laugh and point at the tiny limes on the way out and say you could use a pair.

hmmm, allow me to put this in perspective with this senario:

You and your wife are in the deli and she sees a huge salami. She says to you to take back your hot dog weiner and get the larger salami.

How would you feel?

It is a matter of putting yourself in the other person's shoes. Think before you speak. What may not be offensive to you may be offensive to your wife.

God gave us two ears and one mouth. And sometimes it is hard to listen twice as much as we talk.

I do not think your wife will leave you. I suggest you apologize that what you said offended her. Women have egos too, but we call it self-esteem.

I FULL HEARTEDLY AGREE WITH purplesometimes - Quit putting your wife down. Sounds like you have little respect for yourself or you would have more repect for your wife.

If it were me you said this to? The third time would be a deal breaker because insensitive actions have consquences - sometime dire.

It is the insecurity in you. You humiliate and put her down to feel better about you.

Your wife does not have the same sense of humor as you do. I know that I really try to recognize the things that my husband says as jokes, but sometimes what he thinks is funny is actually a little hurtful. When that is the case, I try to leave things alone for a little while and cool down- which is probably what your wife was doing. give it some time, try apologizing. But if your marriage is worth a damn to her, this will just be a small incident.

Tell her a guy on yahoo answers prefers the little ones... they don't sag as much and are a perfect fit for my hands... the big ones are nasty.. like a fat mans stomach! LOL

The little ones are great in a t-shirt without a bra... even the tiny ones... I actually don't like breast implants... an A or B cup is perfect!

nah but she should be able to slap the sh*t out of you the next time you say something like that to her. =0) But really she shouldn't have been that offened! You married her so she should know that you love her. Men are just going to look at other women's melons because that's what guys do. =0)

Some analogies need to be kept to ones self. You spoke out of lust not love nor humor. You DEFINITELY need to
repent of that attitude and, not only ask her for forgiveness
but, prove your self to her and DON'T do it again! This is
no joke. I doubt very much that you wouldn't like it if the tables were turned on you.

You dumb**s,

you never, never, never find fault with your women's body!

Women have lots of issues about there bodies, and the last thing they want or need is having there friend(BF, husband, etc) telling them that they are not good enough.

I'm surprised she didn't smack the crud out of you.
If you're lucky enough to patch things up, I would make sure you never mention that again, and go out and buy her lots of jewelry!!! and Flowers. and consider sleeping in the doghouse for a few weeks.

PS you might want to seek some sensitivity counseling too.

The wrong thing was making a joke out of something that seems disrespectful.

To make up to her, grab a pair of longans and tell her hers are definitely bigger.

There, a joke back!
