Well, let's give it a try. Let x be the weight of donuts bought, then x + 1 will be the weight of cookies.

Let d be the cost of donuts per kilo, let c be the cost of cookies.

We know:

xd = 450

(x + 1)c = 200

d > c

We're looking for d - c.

So, since we have only two equations, let's try subtracting them:

xd - (x + 1)c = 450 - 200

xd - xc - c = 250

x(d - c) - c = 250

d - c = (250 + c)/x

It looks like there isn't enough information, but we can check that. Let's assume an answer and see what happens. The we'll assume another answer - if we don't get the same result, then there isn't enough information to answer the question.

So: Let's assume that they bought 2 kg of donuts. They must, then, have bought 1 kg of cookies. That makes donuts worth 225 shekels per kg and cookies worth 200 shekels, which fits the condition that the donuts are worth more than the cookies. The difference is 25 shekels per kilogram.

Now: Assume that they bought 2.5 kg of donuts. Then they bought 1.5 kg of cookies. That makes donuts worth 180 shekels per kilogram and cookies worth 133.33 shekels per kilogram. Again, this fits that donuts are worth more than the cookies, but the difference this time is 46.33 shekels per kilogram, which is not the same.

Since my two answers both fit the conditions of the problem but gave me different results, the problem is underdetermined. Either the problem can't be solved with the information given, or there's another condition you've missed. Go back and read the problem again, just to be sure.

Well if the class bought 1 kg of cookies for 200 shekels and 2kg of donuts for 450 shekels - then 1kgt of donuts would be 225 shekels. So the donuts are 25 shekels more than the cookies.

I don't think you have enough information to answer this question. At least not enough to get ONE answer.

Suppose the doughnuts and the cookies cost the same, that is the same per kilo. Let's say cookies cost 200 shekels per kilo and doughnuts cost 250 shekels per kilo. Then you'd have one kilo of cookies and two kilos of doughnuts.

But there are many more answers! Cookies could be 100 shekels per kilo, and doughnuts 150 shekels per kilo, so you have three kilos of doughnuts and two of cookies.
