The movie was slow and boring, don't pay over matinee prices or wait for video. One of the most disappointing movies of the year. I didn't read the book but was drawn to the cast, what a disappointment.

Like many movies, the religion and the religious leaders in the movie want to control the population, hold information back from them, cling to tradition at the expense of science, and various other things that parallel Christian history. The Religious figures had devious animals (demons) too. I am thinking of one who's was a snake, while other adult characters had loyal dogs, and proud and strong lions, etc.
I watched the movie and read it as a jab at Christianity.

It's not about killing god, it's about killing popular organized religion (the Catholics). because the Catholics are insane butt wipes who are infested with murder, homosexuality, money, rewriting the bible too fit there own descusting ways , changing Gods law and anything else they can get there hands on!
In the book they are trying to destroy the oh so flexible pagan Catholics, which is all of them!... yeah that's pretty much it...

it's a very crap movie. it COMPLETELY kills the spirit of the book [judging by the trailer]. Please read the book trilogy first, the books are very thought-provoking and intelligent, even though they appear to be like a dragon-type-fairy-tales book.
The movie just portrays it like one of those stupid fairy-tale type movies. I really recommend everyone to read the books, rather than watch this crap overly-commercialised movie, with no taste in it at all. Trust me, all the fans of the book will hate this movie.
