as for the term anchor babies what's with all the whines..the term accurately describes the intent behind running across the border ,getting free maternity care/delivery all to circumvent standard immigration application procedures..
I hope the supreme court rules favorably since the fed government has failed to fund the states who must care for the illegals and their infant of opportunity...Human life should not be reduced to a "barter tool" or payment for an adults desire....too many kids are exploited in this world already..

Yes I support Arizona and it's desire to put the idiotic idea that the 14th covers anchor babies. I can't wait to see it tested in the Court and the whole idea thrown out and ALL states will be forbidden from issuing certificates to anchors. I hope the court makes it retroactive so any anchor with a certificate is now a criminal.

I disaprove of the term Anchor baby and any law that would deny a birth certificate to somebody born in the U.S.

If you are a child born in the United States, then you are a citizen no questions asked. Your parents, if they are illegal, are still illegal and subject to the law.

Anchor babies are used as an excuse by illegal immigrants to stay in the U.S. so that they can raise their child here. It is a good excuse, but the child will always be a U.S. citizen regardless of where they are raised. Therefore, if the parents are deported under the law, they can choose to take their child with them (who will still be a citizen) or to let the child be adopted. Of course, they would be allowed to immigrate legally following the proper channels as usual.

Yes I support this, there is no rational interpretation of the 14th ammendment that grants automatic citizenship to a child born here of illegal immigrants.

Well, first the term 'anchor babies' is considered by many people to be hate speech.

This term refers to children born in the United States by undocumented (illegal) immigrants.

By most accountings of Federal law, anyone born in the United States is a Citizen of the United States. It is ALSO the States right (and duty) to provide birth certification for its residents.

So the State of Arizona feels that it is above the law? Not a good idea.

I do not support this law meant to place the cause of the problems we have in the United States on immigrants.
