Y9u could attempt the books of Meg Cabot, she has written distinctive teenage novels, as a rule to do with college, associates, boys etc. The Princess Diaries sequence is rather humorous, and her 'lacking' sequence is an exciting secret sequence. Of her non-sequence books I fairly enjoyed teen Idol, and Pants On hearth is yet another very solid one.

look under Children's Book Awards - buy those that win awards. Ask their mother if they have them before you buy, since return is difficult.
ask your local library - callfor the Children's Librarian.
