My pediatrician told me it was ok to start giving her cheese but how do we do that? DO we melt it? Wont it become all hard? Do I mix it up in her banana rice cereal? how ?

I thought babies were only supposed to have whole milk until 1-year old...cheese is usually made with 2% milk.

I don't know...I don't remember when my son first ate cheese.

A sample recipe:
Cheesy Broccoli (or Cauliflower) Rice
8-10 months+ (same method for Cauliflower)

1 stalk of broccoli
½ cup cooked brown rice
¼ shredded cheddar cheese

1. Wash broccoli under cool water.
2. Chop stems and florets into small pieces; using just the florets will many times yield a smoother puree. Steam until tender.
3. Mix the rice and broccoli together and return to the stove on low
4. Stir in the cheese until it has melted into the broccoli & rice
5. Puree or mash as needed

You can find more of these at www.wholesomebabyfood.com.
Enjoy and good luck!

I give my 8 month old coarsely grated cheese. She likes just a few bits at a time. She seems to like Cheddar the best.

I wouldn't feed a baby processed cheese slices as someone has mentioned before --- you want to give a baby food with as little preservatives and chemicals as possible. Stay away from any "processed" foods for baby!

There are a lot of ways actually. Give her tiny chunks of cheese, or melt it on her veggies. My babies LOVE brocoli and cheese. I cut up the brocolli a little bit and melt the cheese overtop..yummy. Or try macaroni and cheese. Stuff like that. How do you eat cheese??? Same thing you would do for her except in tiny pieces!

Cut it up into tiny pieces, and put it in her mouth. Don't worry about her using teeth because I doubt your baby has "chewing" teeth yet, so it's just a matter of the chewing motion that matters. If she even has teeth, it's probably just the bottom or top 2, which are considered biting teeth. My 11 month old really likes cheddar cheese which I cut into very very small pieces. She is now able to pick up the pieces and put them in her mouth. Goodluck!

My daughter gives her 9 month old shredded cheese. It's easy for her to pick up. If your baby has teeth, you could probably give her small strips of cheese or even a slice of cheese. Just make sure it's a small amount at a time.

I've been told to wait til about a year to give cheese. I would suggest to try and start out with whole milk yogurt before cheese, the baby seems alittle to young to be able to chew cheese, but that is just me.

My daughter loves cheese, but I think she was 12 months before we started giving it to her even though she had at least 8-10 teeth by then. I used to just give her slices of cheddar that she could eat with her fingers or string cheese. Ask the doctor about giving your daughter yogurt if it's the dairy nutrients he wants your daughter to have. Good luck!

If your doc said it's ok to try it, then try it!

Here are these things I ran into while looking for baby shower presents for my friend. Although it would be somewhat messy, at least it would reduce the potential for choking. Even if you don't use it for the cheese.. there are other uses for them! I am sure you could find them online or even at a store near you - maybe call a local baby supply store!

Cheers!

Yeah, just get regular plain oatmeal and warm it a little. But make sure the cheese is very fine.Or you can mix all in a blender.....
