well it depends. My thoughts are that when you marry, you marry the whole family too. If you can deal with the in laws and not let it get to you then don't call it off, if however they will get to you to the point that it effects your relationship then, I say you should walk away.

It is much better to call off the relationship now. In-laws cause lots of problems for married couples, so I am happy that your recognized it early in the relationship. Good luck with your new relationship.

I'd have to say it depends....how close in proximity are they to you? Distance can help. How much does your significant other favor them over you? If you are assured that you come before them and will be stood by in times of conflict, I would hang in there, if not, get out as it will be a losing battle. You said it was a relationship, if you were in a marriage, my answer would be: stay committed and work through the problems, family counseling?

Sad but may be true.
I had a really serious relationship with a girl that I really loved ruined by her parents (mother especially). They were manipulative, power hungry SOBs and saw nothing of trying to run their daughter's life even after she was done with college.
Just think, if it's difficult now it will be a lot more difficult when you are actually married, unless you live a REALLY long ways away!

yes. when/if you marry that person, that family becomes your family. If you and the in-laws cannot get along, your in for a long haul of arguing. This will put a lot of strain on the relationship, and could very well eventually drive you two apart

Sure it can be a good reason to call off a relationship.
Especially if the in-laws are not being respectful of your business and your partner doesn`t seem to mind them getting in there or if the in-laws are mean or ignorant to you and your partner doesn`t care to handle the situation properly.

yes. people alway under estimate family. even if your significant other has NO relationship with his family, that still influences his behavior, thought process, and they way you'll raise your own family. and children usually don't take on the characteristics of their parents- instead children will usually act and behave just like some other relative. Lastly, family support is important in a relationship, even if it not overt.

You don't have to have a reason that is valid to anyone else, as long as it's valid to you. People always ask "is this a good enough reason to break up?" You dont even have to have a reason. If your not happy with any aspect, or see major problems that may end you intersts then break it off. Better now than later.
