I don't know what you are trying to do but there are a lot of videos on youtube that you might find useful in learning how to use the GIMP.

If you want something in more detail then I suggest you look into purchasing a book.

Hi:

I use The Gimp all the time. I like it a lot better than Adobe Photoshop. It has way more features in it. If you can use Photoshop you should have no problems with The Gimp.

First I will assume that you know how to open an image in The Gimp.

Let's say you want to touch up the image a little. When it is loaded, you will see that there is a menu bar on the Image itself. The Colours pull down has an Auto selection with many features to choose from. I try White Balance, Colour Enhance and Normalize mostly. This usually fixes most of the problems Digital Photography can throw at you. Use the Image pulldown to resize or Scale your images. Filters, Decore has some cool stuff it can do as well. Old Picture is my favourite tool.

Well I hope this gives you a start on some of the features. I suggest you make a copy of some image then just play till you learn. You cannot damage a copy now can you?
