I've always wanted to model, but am not willing to sacrafice my standards for work (ex...nudity, provocative poses, etc.). Does anyone with any experience know whether or not it would be worth my time to look into this seriously?

I'm...
24 years old & 5'1" (I know, really short)
...and I have the "looks" (not being conceited...I do)

BTW...

I already have a Bachelor's degree in Biology and work doing research for a biotechnology company. I make plenty of money and have many avenues open for advancement.

Please don't assume I'm worthless or don't aspire to make my own impact on the world...this is just something I've always wanted to do.

Why not do something meaningful with your life instead of giving yourself to a vapid, hollow industry? Why would you want to spend your whole life being accused of being stupid and shallow, when you really aren't?

Go get educated. Do what you can to make the world a better place for your fellow man. Help battered spouses and partners, help abused children, help abused animals, help the homeless, help the hungry.
_______

There are more degrees than a Bachelor's. Why not get a Master's and study diseases or genetic disorders? Why waste all that hard work in college on something silly like modeling. And I didn't say you were worthless. I said you would be thought of as such even if you weren't if you were a model. That's the way society is.

I think you should definitely look into modeling, especially if its something you want to do. life is so short, so live it to the fullest. since you have an education and a good one too, I think it's great you want to try out modeling. don't listen to people who say modeling is shallow, because they are being shallow just for saying that! they probably have never modeled and are just jealous. If you aren't looking to become a professional model, try a store like hollister or Macy's or American eagle, etc, etc. you might be able to ask around at those stores to see if there are positions available because I know they do a lot of advertising and pictures of the models on the shopping bags. plus, if you have the model look, any store or agency will most likely want you to model for them. another option is magazines. you could find a way to model for certain magazines, although I've heard that it's hard to model for magazines without prior model experience. One more option is catalogs for clothing stores like Kohl's or sears. You could also be a makeup model for places like aveda and sephora or maybe a foot or hand model for jewelry stores. always go for your dreams and good luck!

Speaking as a professional photographer, and based upon the additional qualifications you mentioned you have, I would say modeling may be a waste of time for you financially.

But if it's something you think you would enjoy doing then consider doing it for fun.

Since you intend to place limitations on what types of modeling you wish to do and your height may limit you as well you could find a niche in modeling body parts like hair, hands, eyes, feet, or many other things for advertising. Figure out your best assets and capitalize on them.

Just be careful how and with whom you work with. Have fun with it and fall back on your other education for income.

You are kinda of old to begin a career in the modeling industry....most successful models begin before age: 18

Also I won't say you are too short but you would definately be more compatible for comercial modeling not fashion modeling....

Considering you seem to already have a life I wouldn't be worried about trying to pursue the modeling especially considering your age and no experience....

You could model for petite clothing. I think it would be worth looking into. You could also look into casting calls for extras in movies. There are all different sizes of models and petite size is one of them. Go for it.
