Here are the reasons I think Bonds came under much more fire than Clemens (I don't think it was about race, unlike what the sports writers are saying):
1. Bonds is an extremely difficult person who's nasty to teammates, sports writers & fans alike. People just don't like him and it's well-deserved. Clemens can be awnry, but nothing like Bonds.
2. Fans focus more on the ability of steroids and HGH to improve power. Home runs matter more than pitching performance.
3. Clemens didn't become better than when he was in his youth, he just re-captured his greatness. Bonds went from an excellent player to one of the few greatest hitters of all-time.
4. Bonds' body shape changed dramatically. Clemens had changes too, but not nearly as visible.
5. Bonds lied under oath. Of course, Clemens was never asked to testify, so this is kind of unfair.
I hope it's not about race. Like Bonds, Clemens is denying steroid use now -- They're both lying.

I'm not saying that hitting home runs is more important than pitching performance, for crisesakes!!! I'm saying the fans focus more on it which is why, to many, Bonds steroid use is more significant than Clemen's steroid use. I'm well aware how important pitching is.

What's the point of even discussing this - until baseball fans join forces and say we will not watch baseball on TV or go to games or do anything to support MLB, nothing is going to change!

True to some extent but he's actually not bad to the fans who respect him (they don't have to like him, just respect him.
"Home runs matter more than pitching performance."
No they don't, its just the record that bothers fans, homeruns, one aspect of hitting, are nothing in comparison to all the aspects of pitching performance.
"Clemens didn't become better than when he was in his youth, he just re-captured his greatness. Bonds went from an excellent player to one of the few greatest hitters of all-time"
No, many players in the past do what bonds did where they start as speedy players and then fall back onto becoming patient, power hitters. Plus to have the all time record for walks means he was good at an early age. Also players are supposed to slowly deteriorate, the fact that clemens used steroids to regain his glory days is not different than bonds using steroids to transform himself as a hitter.
Bonds' body shape changed dramatically. Clemens had changes too, but not nearly as visible.
Clemens was a stick and now hes huge, its the same as bonds.
Bonds lied under oath
I dont think anyone cares that much about this.
I actually do think race had some part of this along with reason #1 and although theres no merit for it reason #2

Clemens is just as nasty and hard to get along with reporters as Barry Bonds, as much as you want to throw race out of the equation it's almost impossible to ignore. No one wanted to believe Canseco when he accused Clemens of steriods, america simply turned a blind eye. On the other hand, anytime any one had anything to say about Bonds, america was all ears. Game after game, fans flocked to the ball parks just to show their hatred for Barry Bonds. In the mean time, Clemens is getting standing ovations for making countless returns to the game. Yes, Bonds' body has changed drastically but are you going to sit there and tell me that Clemens' body didn't do the same...If Bonds is questioned under federal grand jury and faces perjury charges. Let's question Roger Clemens as well... If it's not about race. Right?

i disagree with 1 because the media can be rude and difficult which can lead to bonds appear as a jerk sometimes.
id disagree with 2 because if u asked me if i would take an all star pitcher or an all star hitter id go with a pitcher. pitchers are more important in baseball than hitters.
clemens still improved when he was getting old in a time where most pitchers at that age are past their prime
what does body shape has to do with this arguement
i agree i hope at the end its not a racial issue. i think we will never know because roger will probably retire so we will never see how the fans respond when he gets on the mound but clemens deserves some kind of punishment

If I ought to p.c.. certainly one of them, i might take Clemens. whether, by way of a few miracle, Bonds wasn't on steroids, he remains a maximum cancers i the clubhouse. a minimum of Clemens is a team participant.

What applies to Bonds, has to apply to Clemens as well.
It's not a racial thing, keep them both out of the HOF.
No doubt they could have been considered among the best ever without steroids, but they got greedy. Being among the best wasn't good enough for them, they cheated in order to be considered the best ever. How can anyone justify awarding them for cheating?
Same old story every time one of these cheaters get caught, first its "no way" then "nothing has ever been proven" and onto "I thought it was lemonaide" or whatever.
