If they are, they are no worse then Americans or English people who brag about their beginnings.
It's a little theory called Nationalism, they have given the world so much stuff, the Roman Republic basically invented a Representative democracy, the Renaissance was one of the greatest awakenings the world has ever had.
If they are proud of their culture, I don't think there's a problem with that.
(not implying that you had a problem with it, i'm just putting in my two cents)

In my opinion, many Italians (in Italy) are proud of their great history. Many others don't even know their history. We don't feel roman history as really "our" history, because it's too ancient. We are even a little scared by that strong, martial, empire, where emperors killed people in the Colosseums. Maybe, we have become too christian for that. I think we feel more Middle Age and Renaissance as "our" past. Anyway, "town identity" was strong at that time. And we still feel as a collection of different peoples (towns, regions) nowadays.
I also think that we sometimes use history proudness as a shield against our lack of importance in the modern world.
Maybe, we are horribly (too much?) proud sometimes. But aren't you the same sometimes? We all are that way sometimes.

Your question is confusing, but they should be very proud of the Renaissance. It brought Europe out of the Dark Ages and promoted exploration which created us.
As for the Roman Empire, some pride, I supposes, but the ruthlessness of the empire leaves a sour taste.

i'm Croatian and that i've got Italians in my kin. when you consider that i grew to become right into a baby I undergo in concepts the joking and teasing returned and forth during the video games. It made it greater exciting and all of us laughed mutually. We have been going to have a extensive kin gathering if the two met up this Euro cup... feels like we will save waiting for the day. with the objective to respond to your question, it somewhat is all in relaxing. it somewhat is seen a feat to conquer Italy, be proud in that.

Well....its an old nation. Its risen, fallen, risen again, went through civil wars and battles against city-states. Were victors in WW I and losers in WW II.
Like most countries they have a lot to be proud of as well as ashamed of too.

I don't think Italians are any more proud of their history or heritage than any other nationality/culture.

Your question doesn't make any sense. Are you saying their pride is horrible? Their historical accomplishments are awful? The way they demonstrate that pride is awful?

Well look at it this way, if you're ashamed of who you are because of the actions of your ancestors, you're a loser both figuratively and literally.
