As an American, I think it is your duty to ensure your government does not instill fear in the general population, that should not be their function...how does it go...government for the people, by the people etc...etc...Isn't your constitutional right to bear arms (The Federal Papers etc...) to do with, among other things, ensuring the government does not get out of line ?

No. If we fear our government, it means that they are guilty of terrorism. The definition of terrorism is the use of force or the threat of the use of force to compel an action, or discourage some action that is not illegal.

If you are afraid to speak your mind, or rent a video, or buy a book because your are afraid of government, then the perceived threat is terrorism.

Rather, government is supposed to fear the people. That's what keeps them honest. It looks like they have lost their fear of us.
