I mean they did a through background search including credit history, bank account information, employment and driving history as well as a criminal background search.

How would you feel if that was done to you?

Sure many of us would not hesitate to do it on someone else, but if someone did it to you, would you feel violated? Did they go too far? Would you think they were gold diggers since they wanted to see financial records?

Is there something in your past that can be taken out of context without an explanation from you if someone checked you out?

It has never happened to me, that I know of. I am only asking out of a general desire to know how people feel and think about this subject.

Absolutely! It is no ones business what you have and they shouldn't be doing this. I am a private person and I personally don't think it's any ones business.I have only run background checks on people I have rented to. They knew this-they know and they give me their personal info so I can do this.
I don't think it's right and it's deceiful and untrusting to me.
I have literally had to change the spelling of my name and all kinds of info due to this other girl that got a hold of my medical records and the Stupid E.R. checked her in under my History. It has caused me a PITA. It still is. I've even had to send the F.B. I. information because if I hadn't of went to get my concealed Weapons Lic. I would have never known what was on my record. Everything on there was her Junk and I was so Mad I almost started to Sue the Hospital for being so stupid.
It scares me when people can get my financial information. I have tried to protect myself in everyway possible.I suppose if they get you mixed up with someone else things really can be taken out of context. I have nothing to hide, but it's still my business. Financial is taking it way to far! That is very dangerous to me, and you better be Cautious of someone like this.

I wouldn't notice. Even in the relationships that have worked out, I've always been stood up on the first date. So. I'd just figure that another woman had sobered up and come to her senses.

I've no criminal, or surprisingly, mental health history. But a look at my financials and some of my writings is bound to put off any woman OCD enough to do a background check.

I wouldn't mind. But, (and there's always a 'but')

I emphatically believe that there are CRAZIES out there that we unknowingly actually DATE...veteran of those...and, a thorough background check would have been SO nice, before I ever found out the hard way...

Compulsive/obsessives can have behaviour like that. But, a mentally stable, no goldigger type, person should have some recourse to find out about the person, who they just might wind up marrying!

Jury's out on this one...I wouldn't mind at all, if the background check turned up some things to stay the hell away from! Cheaper than divorce, and I don't want to be the inspiration for a CSI episode!!!

I have nothing to hide. I may have a colorful , non criminal past but it's not a secret- but to answer your question, yes I'd be mad. People aren't a bunch of numbers, credit reports and crap on paper. You shouldn't even be considering dating them if you think they are creeps.
By the time you get to the date part you should have taken the time to get to know them a bit.
Some people do have things in their past but those things would need to be asked face to face by you before you go anywhere alone with them If after that you feel they are being dishonest, don't go out with them.
Also if I went out with someone and then found out they had invaded my privacy to that degree, I wouldn't continue to date them. To me that's just wrong on so many levels.

You think cheaters are honest? Cheaters lie, steal and well cheat. What options are you looking for? You know the right answer, move on or put up with a cheater and make yourself miserable. Miserable because you will never trust him. Move on and be happy with just you or find a real man. You can suggest counseling for the pair of you, but what the hell is the point if your not married? Nothing to save but a lying, cheating, trust less relationship. Calm down and use sense and reason, then think this through. Best wishes!

A Google search does not bother me. You always want to know things about people. But a thorough background search would mean that there is no trust at all in that person. I would not do it myself because I trust my intuition on people more than facts. And I prefer to be fooled than to be suspicious.

i personally feel that it would be an invasion of privacy and is quite wrong
i mean...come on!! if you want to know then just ask
but on the other hand...if your not sure what to think of someone, a great place to look would be their back rounds
if this person has a bad credit history then they are probably irresponsible
sometimes its a good idea (i guess)

Go ahead i have nothing to hide. I would do the same. But as far as thinking they are gold diggers, I'm poor so no worries about that.
