I do agree with you but I know the simple fact that well there are kids out there that will think that its ok for them to do it and not get cought but they may not have all the money to get there selvs out of the slump so then they will be stuck in that posision for ever unless they can turn there selvs around but by that time they will have been liveing like that for soo long that they wont even care any more is that rly what we want ****** ginerations to be like...?

Your thinking the Office is a job, and it isn't, it is a "Position of Responsibility". Oh wait, that worst yet!
I don't think they are held to the standard you and I are when we go for a job. I have to take a drug test, a driving test and have a physical and a back ground check, and I make 25% of what the office pays.
Mybe it is a sad thing to say, but we are running out of "Mother Terrisa's in this world". The cost of running for the office is in the millions a month now and they run for like 18 months. I'm out after a few hours at that cost. We do have some good people out their, but they aren't running for President this time around are they?
I couldn't pick one to vote for, or two in a package deal from the lot of them. I don't like the choices we have in either party or club we talk about. (I use the word club because we have a Woman running this time and I heard it called a Good Ole Boy's Club before). She is the second Woman to run for the office in my lifetime. I hope she is not the last. Mybe we need another small guy to come out of the state of Kansas to run for office again? Oh wait, mybe history will repeet itself again.

"if past drug use will stop you from geting a job why doesn't it stand for oboma?"
You are a bit confused. Past drug use does not stop you from getting a job. Past drug convictions do however, and that is what makes it different in Obama's case. He was young and experimenting. I think we all can agree that children make mistakes, this is why parents are legally responsible for them. Children do not posses the proper judgment to make decisions concerning their life. As they mature they gain these skills. As Obama matured he realized that drugs were not good for him and stopped. I don't think we can penalize him for making mistakes in his youth. That is something that all youths are guilty of to some extent. My point being that he didn't get so deeply involved in drugs where they caused him to do things which would get him arrested. He was only experimenting as all children do. I am not an Obama supporter and I will be voting for Ron Paul. I just wanted to make that clear so people didn't think I was only saying this because I am impartial. What I have said, I feel, applies to all candidates and any mistakes they might have made in their youths.

I won't point out what other respondents have. I will ask of you: When will we stop criminalizing drug use? Prohibition didn't work in stopping alcohol consumption. It will never work in stopping any other drug use either. The war on drugs is just big business that guarantees jobs for prison guards, wardens, parole officers, D.E.A. agents...etc, and a frightened, intimidated, distracted public. The only time past drug use keeps you from getting a job is if the job is in a sensitive area, or if you have a felony conviction on your record from it.
And very few job interviews ask you if you've ever tried drugs in your life. They just do urine tests to make sure you're not currently doing drugs.

No. It was just an admission of immaturity.
A lot of people have tried things like smoking or drinking but realize that it would be detrimental to their lives.
It was always a know fact to Texans, that admit themselves that they participated with Bush doing cocaine before he became Governor.
He now admits he was an alcoholic.
Remember, alcohol is a drug also.
So don't judge if someone no longer behaves in the manner that they've overcome.

It might have if he were in the private sector and it became know. But, he is an elected official, the key word here being, elected. If the little know fact of his drug use were known before election time, maybe he wouldn't have been elected. We have all done deeds were not proud of. This should not condemn us forever especially if we commit ourselves to doing better.

Drug users who accepted that what they did was wrong and was already totally rehabilitated can become Presidents if they are sincere to serve the people just like Obama.

Past drug use does't stop you from getting a job necessarily, only current use...or 'revising' (lying) about past/current use.
(hey, anyone smoke mariquana but didn't inhale?)

Because I'm not that type of boss. I choose the best person for the job and don't look for arbitrary reasons not to hire.
Besides it didn't stop Clinton or Bush.
