Red blood cells of birds do have a nucleus. RBCs of mammals do not have a nucleus. They are specialized cells, can not reproduce and have only three months life span. I assume they still need the mitochondria for generating ATP. If they have other organelles, these organelles must be degenerated or useless.

blood cells do not have a nucleus and they only live for 30 days approx. That is why they are concave. They do not reproduce so they have no reason for any orgaelles.

red blood cells do not have mitochondria. If they did, they would use the oxygen they are carrying and that doesnt make any sense. so they make ATP by glycolysis alone. they are basically ships of oxygen.
