Being honest will not always make you feel light and free.It is the right thing to do,but there are times when people's feelings are hurt by it.I believe it is best to be honest when you can turn that honesty into something positive.
Never be honest with someone when you are angry.Never be honest with anyone when you are jealous,in a bad mood ,or when that honesty is sure to rupture future friendships and ultimately lead to negativity.
Always be honest after you have considered how best to bring the Truth to someone that is capable of being receptive and can turn the honesty into a positive thing for all involved. There is little sense in being honest with someone who has closed all of their input channels off. That will only lead to hurt, bitterness, and a will to revenge.
Honesty is a piece of the personality of one who has integrity.Being honest merely to create confusion is only going to widen the abyss between the truth teller and the truthee.Don't lie just hold your tongue.Silence can at times be golden.Besides the Truth usually reveals itself without help.
Also there are two types of lie.One is where you believe you have all the correct facts but later learn you did not. That would lead to telling the Truth which is actually a lie.The other is that you full well are aware of the Truth but deliberately distort them.It is the latter that we are referring to.
It has been said that the Truth shall set you free, but the Truth can also be used for ill-gotten gain at the expense of someone else .that is negative greed and not positive. It can free you or enslave you.A lie to spare yourself from wrong you have done is Evil but the Truth told when you are in the wrong will bring you respect. The Truth need not necessarily be told the moment it is known. There are times when it is best to let the Truth tell itself.
In any event the Truth told in the proper circumstances will make your integrity stronger and enhane your personal growth as a human being.Your Always Friend larry m

de@r gEnTLe m@n,
I am honest and i try to become more and more honest when and wherever possible. I try to be honest in each and every situation i face in my life.
It is very difficult for some people to become honest. Because being honest is a little bit difficult task. People are more dis-honest then honest because people feel that if they are HONEST they will not be able to enjoy all the luxuries of life and the comforts of life.
And if you are dishonest, you can enjoy all the luxuries and comforts of life. Because if people are honest, they will not accept bribery, and will not give any side or partnership in crimes.
Because if people are dishonest, then they get a lot of money as compared to honest people, as they are involved and indulged in every sort of crimes. And as a result, crime rates are increasing tremendously. And if we compare then honest people rate is less then dishonest people as honesty is decreasing daily.
So everyone should try to be honest, because HONESTY gives such a thing which DISHONESTY cant give and will never ever give. And that is :
SATISFACTION and
NO GUILT CONSCIOUSNESS.... :)....tc...sweet dreamz...bye....

I have always been honest and open. It is my strength and my downfall. Honesty makes a lot of people uncomfortable. People don't necessarily want to know the truth. Many people live a lie their entire lives. Hiding their true thoughts & feelings, stifling their true selves out of fear of being hurt. To be honest is to be vulnerable because you reveal who you really are and open yourself up to attack from others.
It takes great courage to be honest. To say what you mean. To admit what you feel.
But yes, you do feel light. You are not burdened by stifled emotions. You do not have to wear a heavy suit of armour and a mask to hide from the world. You do not have to see life from behind a wall. You are not exhausted by trying to live a lie. You are not mired beneath the guilt of deception and the constant feeling that you're a fraud. The truth really does set you free...
It may not always be popular, but honesty is the best policy!
Keeping it real,
:)

For the reasons mentioned in your question, everyone does want to be honest....... but most people find that it hurts to be honest when it clashes with self interest.... in fact a lot of people believe that one need not be honest so long as one is not trying to hurt or harm anyone else..... in other words, so long as the objective is fair and justified, there is no harm in being dishonest for achieving such an objective.... in short, that the End justifies the Means. Our ego and selfish interest put almost insurmountable hurdles if we aim to practice total honesty.
Further, honesty as a virtue is not appreciated these days as much as success and achievement.... hence to be dishonest in order to achieve success is the done thing in today's world.
In order to be totally honest, one needs to be completely fearless of failure, criticism and even opposition.

I think being honest feels good. But many people try to be dishonest to othes just so that they could impress others, or even to make themselves feel better, or to even give them the happiness and confidence. People tell themselves and others that they are strong when they aren't. People tell themselves that they are happy when they are suffering inside. I think it is part of a defense mechanism to make oneself feel better. To forget about tragedies, to forget about their weaknesses.
But there are people who aren't honest to others. They just say one thing and they do another. I think people should stop that. They think that people like them better when they aren't honest. Which isn't true.
So it is hard to be honest when a person has complexes that haunt them.

Nothing is more terrifying, and properly so, than the prospect of what may be lurking out there in truth land. We are all full of denial and delusion just to be able to survive some of the dreadful truths of our lives and ourselves. The most savage attacks come when we try to wrestle someone's protection from the truth away from them.

That depends how much of a web of lies your life is in currently... If your life is all lies, you would pretty much have to start over, if you were to start telling the truth from today....
I am an honest person, I dare to say my life would not change at all...
