OK, I like a scented candle now and then, and I can understand using an air freshener if you have a cat or dog. But lately people are using WAY too much, and it's giving me a headache...wouldn't it be easier to keep your home clean instead of trying to cover up all those nasty smells?

I think air fresheners and candles just mask odors and don't take care of the source. Like you, those products give me headaches (big time sinus problems) and having two kids and pets in the house I prefer to use products that are safe to use around our entire family as well as ecologically friendly. I find bombing your house with chemical household cleaners is just as bad as over-use of scented air fresheners.

A house plant may be a better idea. They consume carbon doixide and the smells that go with it. Then they exhale oxygen into the air. A natural air freshener that might be better for you than chemicals. I'd suggest a Peace Lily. Or Spider plant. They are quite easy to take care of.

Absolutely! I prefer to have a clean home, rather than mask it with something that you spray in the air or a candle that just sits there. I don't like to use bleach, either. I think bleach only "bleaches" the problem. I keep my home sparkling clean - nobody in my home is ever sick, so I must be doing something right! Plus, we have a dog, and it doesn't smell like a dog in our home. I keep her clean along with the house! We bathe her at least once every two weeks. She's a completely domesticated dog, so she's not outside running around getting dirty - though we do take her to the dog park pretty often. I wash her feet before they hit the floor though.

I am a neat freak, clean every day, but I do love lighting a candle every night. It creates a nice, homey atmosphere.

But there are times where the garbage stinks (what? i just emptied the damn thing), and sometimes food odor lingers in the air (onions and garlic, anyone?). I use Oust to help me out with those nasty smells.

I went to a party last Saturday night and she had a ton of candles lit all around the house. My allergies went bezerk, my eyes started itching, and I had to take my contacts out to rinse them. Ew.

I agree! I don't like scented candles or sprays as I don't believe they are good for you. I do however love Bees-wax candles! They burn clean and actually do clean the air, like that smell after a rain storm!

I agree... I have allergies to some air fresheners.. I have 2 toddlers and a large dog... I have to brush the dog about once a week and bathe her once a month... I also vacuum my furniture once a week and vacuum my entire house everyday... I use baking soda on the carpets once a month in case there are any lingering odors... I wash my sofa cushions once every 6 months..

I DO however, like to use febreeze in a pinch..

good luck

YES! I can't stand those or sprays or even perfume. Cant you just take a bath with a nice soap and use some lotion?
We had a friend who has tons of cats. When my son comes home, he throws his clothes in the laundry and showers! HAAA
I guess cleaning is a thing of the past.

not necessarily...
I clean my home daily, but for some reason, I don't know if its the city pipes or what, but there is a smell in the morning.. Nothing we've done gets rid of it..
so I burn incense in the morning.. But in the afternoon, its gone..

I use air fresheners to add fragrance to my home, not to cover up a dirty house.
