I sometimes feel alil moving but it just seems like gas bubbles cuz it usually happenes after I ate something. I dont have an appointment til Jan 2 but it seems like forever to wait and make sure my baby is OK!! Can anyone reassure me that this is normal...at least until I can hear it from my doctor!?!?!?

All is probably fine. You even just said between 16-20 weeks and you are right in the middle. It might take you awhile to feel movement or to be able to to distingush what the movement is. It does feel like gas bubbles though at first! Babies actually are more active when you eat, think about that when you eat, they are eating too! If you are really, really worried see if you can get in this upcoming week before Christmas, even w/ a nurse practioner to make sure all is well. But most likely, all is well. Don't worry, in a month or so you'll be wishing you didnt feel everything, when your baby has hiccups in the middle of the night! :)

Don't worry, Nilda. I'm sure you're fine. Your body has a way of telling you if something's wrong. The first feelings you will get are gas bubbles that WILL confuse you at first, since you don't know what to expect. Those bubbles will become more frequent and kind of tickle the insides of your tummy. It's a wonderful feeling. Then they will become bigger movements later that you will recognize as those true sensations of a real baby in there. You'll fall in love with your baby while he/she's in there, as you continue to feel more of his/her presence. I recommend you borrow What To Expect When You're Expecting form the local library, along with a few other books to get familiar with what you should expect and what you should and shouldn't be doing and eating during your pregnancy. I wish for you a safe and painfree delivery and a healthy baby. Congratulations!

Hun relax -- I didn't start feeling my baby move until about 23 weeks.

I have an anterior placenta which was acting as a "cushion" between the baby's kicks and my stomach. It was like he was kicking a pillow inside of me. But now that he's older I feel the kicks all of the time.

Just be patient.....the little gas bubbles you're feeling could very well be the baby moving...or it could just be gas, lol

it's kind of hard to distinguish the two if this is your first pregnancy.

That is perfectly normal, especially if this is your first child. I didn't feel my daughter until about 21 weeks, so try not to stress about it (hard, I know). And actually, the gas bubbles may very well be your babe moving. That is how it started out feeling for me.

And FYI, the location of the placenta can really affect how much you feel your little one move. My placenta was front and center, and so, it blocked a lot of her movement. I would only feel her movement up high or down low because of it.

It's normal. The gas bubbles your feeling might be the baby moving. If you are that worried about it call and make an appointment with your doctor.

Yep! I thought the feeling was gas bubbles too! Babies move more right after you eat! Get use to it, soon you will wish for a moments rest from the baby kicking and flipping! Good Luck!

well, my girlfreind experinced the same thing, and the doctor told her it was ok, because some women have... im trying to remember exactly, i think the uterus in front of the placenta, or something, but it was causing an extra bit of padding that you can't feel, until the baby becomes a little bit stronger. your baby is fine and moving around, its just he isn't big enough for you to feel. i sound dumb, but thats because i am i guy, and didn't fully understand what he said;-) but you are good to go girl!

At 18 weeks the baby is not as large as your hand. Likewise the bones are soft, and the muscles not very developed, so if it moves at all it is gently "swimming" in the fluids of your body. Yes, it is normal not to feel it move. (Most folks who do feel movement at this point are more imaginative than sensitive.) If you don't feel it in another month, then you are less sensitive, or your baby is much less active than most. We have heard of women going to the hospital to give birth who didn't know they were pregnant. (extreme case, no doubt!)

got news for you sometimes the baby moving does feel like gas bubbles at 18 weeks the baby ain't that big. i have to kids and it did feel like that sometimes, but if your truely concerned go to your doctor, only he/she can tell you if the baby is alright. you said 18-20 weeks, that leaves 2 weeks more. go to doctor, tell the doc your concerns, and see what he tells you. also if it happens after you eat the baby might not like what your eating, might need to change your diet some.
