1. The people--I really like Mel's answer there. Everything that our gov't has ever done has been allowed by us. We are the only ones with the ability to stop it.

2. Lincoln. He expanded federal power in violation of the Bill of Rights. He also proved that the Electoral College was flawed when he won without receiving a single electoral vote from the south.

3. Jefferson. He began the use of Executive Orders. These are one of the most abused and unconstitutional things in US history. There is nothing in the constitution to warrant them-the closest thing is the ability to clarify laws, but it has been frequently used to write new laws.

4. Clinton. Free trade with China was a stupid mistake. It should never have been done. We discovered the problems with cheap imports from Japan, and we discovered the problems with unregulated business with our own history--why then was this allowed?

5. Carter/Bush tie. Both for their amazing work at ruining our educational system. Carter got the ball rolling by taking things out of state control-now almost all the money disappears on the federal level and many states have such poor schools that students from there are barely able to get into little known state schools. Just look at the Washington DC school districts-its ridiculous.
Bush then turned around with his No Child Left Behind crap that took away all real accountability. The only thing that matters is testing, so that is what they teach. Students today can pass a test with the best of the world, but can they apply any of it?
Add to that the extra permissions granted to military recruiters who already outnumber college recruiters on campus and youve some real issues.
Under Carter they also started the phase out of useful classes for students not planning on college. You can no longer learn to handle household finances, and many parents cant or wont teach their children. Of course there are financial crises, no one is teaching these kids!
Lastly, the push to abstinence only education (which is quietly mentioned along with NCLB) does fine in some areas, but in places where the parents wont or cant teach about contraceptives teen birth rates tend to rise. Do we really need half educated parents who cant even balance their own checkbook?

We dont have partisan problems right now, we have country wide crises that no one knows how to fix so each side blames on the other.

These 5 people are the ones I chose, but I could make a case for another 100 people as well.
In the end though, #1 is the only answer. We have to accept responsibility and we have to make some changes. They are own gov't, we are not their subjects. They serve us, lets make them!

Well, your post is good because it reminds us that not all terrorists are Islamic extremists, as the NeoCons like to try to make us believe. I am from Wichita, and I was nine years old during the "Summer of Mercy" in 1991. Even at that age, I realized how crazy the anti-abortion advocates could be. No one was surprised when Dr. Tiller was shot awhile later, despite the fact that he is a (reportedly) nice guy with a nice family.....he's just doing a job that very few people in our state are brave enough to do. I find it ridiculous, however, to include this on a list of "why aren't Democrats trying to stop terrorists".....HELLO, most Dems are pro-choice. Pro-lifers support the NeoCons. Just my two cents' worth.

There are so many to choose from, I would say dubya but he's just a witless dupe. Take your pick from anyone in the evil organization bent on world domination listed below.

Our country is a balance of laws and freedoms. This crew has broken laws to take away our freedoms.
