I never did buy Dreft cause i thought it was un-needed and costed too much just because they want to mak you think a baby's clothes HAS to be wased in that stuff. I have always used regular washing powders.......I have always used Gain.

My kids both had sensitive skin, and Dreft and All baby irritated their skin. I just used the free and clear detergents at the dr's advice and never had problems again. I even used the cheapo Purex kind when money was tight, and it works fine. Like other people have said, Dreft is a gimmick and unnecessary. It's way too expensive when a cheap $4.00 bottle of the free and clear stuff works just as well, without all the perfume that can irritate their skin.

I think Dreft is a good marketing gimmick. My husband just got a bottle of a cheaper brand that is dye free and perfume free. His mother decided what we had wasn't "right" (my husband's words, complete with air quotes), so she bought us the Dreft. We use it, along with the stuff we already had, for our clothes as well. When we run out of both, we have some Arm and Hammer perfume and dye free detergent waiting. I only started using the free detergent for our clothes after we moved because the regular detergent disappeared in the move. That's fine, since our baby does spend a chunk of the day against our clothes as we hold her. Besides, it's silly to buy two detergents and do separate loads of laundry when everything can be tossed in together.
My husband had sensitive skin as a baby, so it was important to him to use the free detergent.

I have sensitive skin and I use All Free and Clear on everyone's clothing... I also add about 1/3-1/2 c. of baking soda to the wash water and use about 1/2 the amount of detergent I would normally use.. The baking soda "boosts" the laundry detergent power and lifts odors/dirt... Baking soda is super cheap and I use it all over the house ! 12 lbs at the wholesale club is around $5 !
I think DREFT is a waste of money !
good luck

I think it all depends on how sensitive your baby's skin is. Try washing one of his items in with your regular laundry using regular detergent/softener/etc. Let your baby wear that item close to his skin (like a onesie) and if there is no reaction then I would say it's safe to stop with the baby detergent and use regular. Just keep an eye out, my cousin's baby has very sensitive skin and if she even wears a bib that's been washed in regular detergent for 30 min her face starts to break out. My sister started washing her son's clothes in regular detergent when he was a couple of months old and had no problems at all.
You could also pick a detergent to use for everyone's clothes that doesn't have any scents. There's a brand out there, but I can't think of it right now, I think it's slogan is "free & clear", check out the laundry isle, I'm sure you'll find it, good luck! :)

We use our regular detergent and it never bothers either one of my kids. I think it depends on how sensitive their skin is. I only used dreft the first 2 weeks with tyler.

I waited until my children were 1 year old. Unfortunately they all have sensitive skin and ended up using for another year. Don't put dryer sheets on the clothes until about 3 or 4yrs to rule out allergies before then.

I never used that overly expensive crap (dreft). I used All free and clear from the start. It's way cheaper and gets the stains out. :)

Our pediatrician said we didn't need to use special soap as long as we ran it on an extra rinse cycle to make sure the soap was gone. If the baby hasn's shown any sensitivity to her clothes you could use the regular soap just make sure it gets rinsed properly.

I never used any special laundry soaps and both my kids were fine.
Now had they shown an allergy or something then I would have used it.
It's just a gimmick to make you think they need "special" soap and make money.
