How do you send in a one shot chapter into a company?

Find out who's shopping around who doesn't use their own stable of artists (not all of the places will take unsolicited, or even consider them without an introductory letter first). Know who to address it to, and check the obvious--any zines that list multiple editors have a list on the page by the table of contents. Any graphics companies/publishers will have names listed. Also check online, and in the Artist Market 2008 edition (which is at the bookstores now).
