I'd love to see it hit big time, but it's really hard to go back before the original, just look at Enterprise. I do love some of the casting choices, Sylar as Spock, and Simon Pegg as Scotty, sweet.

...well, 'Star Trek' movie history HAS dictated that the odd numbered 'Star Trek' films have proved to be mediocre, at best (...a trend, which seemed to have been broken, with #10, "Nemesis"); I seem to recall an outraged furor amongst the die-hard 'Star Trek' fans, when Paramount proposed to do a 'Starfleet Acadamy' type of 'Star Trek' film, about 10-15 years ago, which would have featured a younger Kirk, Spock, McCoy, etc., and the idea was ultimately shelved. Producer/director/writer J.J. Abrams obviously thought that the time was right, to dust off and re-develop that idea, once again; I hope he knows what he's doing...
...we shall just have to wait and see, won't we???

I would like to think it'll be a hit...but it's hard to re-write a legendary icon like this and put new faces to those so familiar to us...I have to cross my fingers with this one and hope for the best, since I've been a fan of the original series since it was first aired on tv.

Big hit. It's been so long since that last one that good or bad all the real fans will see it and a lot of just movie goers also.
