I just read this article: http://uk.news.yahoo.com/rtrs/20071214/tts-uk-worldbank-donors-britain-d1d4700_3.html

I was just curious if people in the US are aware of the dire financial state their economy is in or are the media outlets too preoccupied with the "War on Terror"?

OK - to clarify some info on the current state of the US economy, their current national debt is at a record $8.97tr or 68% of GDP. In addition, Gross U.S. liabilities to foreigners are $16.3 trillion as at end 2006.
It is currently tied in 73rd place for income inequality.
A month or so ago the US$ hit historical lows against the Euro, the Canadian Dollar etc.

I'm not an economist, but I think it's tough to argue that the US economy is the epitomy of stable at present.

interesting that a comparitively tiny country like the UK gives more to the world bank than the richest nation in the world.

I think its just that us british are too generous for our own good.

true the u.s economy is stabilizing but it will increase in the long shot probably 2-4 years. The UK is facing much more danger in the long term. from The EU and higher population of Muslims. There have been lots of report of Arab woman being assaulted by they're husbands. UK is becoming Saudi Arabia of Europe. I think that is more danger than small term economy decrease.

Interesting link. Not sure if it reflects on the US economy though or just on Bushes bloody- mindness. Says alot about born again Christians, doesn't seem very Christian to me.

Britain will takeover the World Bank and the US will lose its influence to exploit the natural resources of poor countries.

shocking at the least

I think that the standard of living is probably much lower in Britain. Plus, they're just trying to outdo us
