Like, going out to have dinner at other people's houses instead of them coming to you? Or just going out of the house for extended periods of time in general?
I just had a baby on the 2nd of December and I feel like my mother in law and husband are pushing me to do things I just don't feel ready for. Just curious how long it took everyone else to feel comfortable with those types of things.

I've been out for an hour or so here and there - but not ready to go somewhere for hours on end.

It is when ever "you" are ready to go out or "feel" up to it. Don't let people tell you differently. Your body is different than everyone else's. I was really differrent cause my baby had to have a procedure on her heart at 10 days old she's now 18 and living a full active life. I went out the next week after I had my baby only because I had to keep going doing something as my baby was flown from Orlando, FL to Phildelphia, PA- childrens hospital for surg. I wasn't able to go yet. I was invited to my girl-friend and her family for Thanksgiving Dinner b/4 we went to get my baby in PA. 2 & 1/2 months later. I was doing everything in 4 wks after a C-section. normally it would be 8 wks. but I had to stay busy.

I went on my first outing with my son when he was about 3 months old, and that was to go and get his picture taken at a portrait studio. He went to my parents house over night for the first time when he was about 5 months old...But I dropped him off and while I was there I gave him dinner/bath/and his bottle and put him down (I really didn't want to leave him but my fiance wanted to take me out for the night) and then I picked him up early the next morning. Everyone is different with how comfortable they are. we just had our second and she is 6 weeks 1 day old. The first time I brought her out was to my baby shower that my family threw for me and it was an all day thing she was a week old, and then thanksgiving which was another all day thing and she was about 3 1/2 weeks old. I find that with the second one you are more comfortable. It is all up to you. That first real outing you are going to probably pack, what feels like your whole entire house because you don't know what to take and what not to take...Don't worry about it. If you are that worried...plan the day before and get the diaper bag ready then :)

Usually within a week to 10 days with my first three. My last one was an emergency C which took the wind out of my sails a bit longer.
I am not talking huge outings to the mall, but going visiting or walking through the store with my husband - things like.

I didn't feel ready for awhile. It was about 5 months after my son was born that things got somewhat easier. He's 8 months old now and it just got harder all over again because he's crawling all over the place and it's hard to take him to other people's houses because there are so many things he can get hurt on. However, it's easier to take him to restaurants because he can sit in a high chair and play or eat and he's content.

I was out doing 'normal' things within a few weeks - with my baby tucked in a sling. If you mean going out without the baby, well, I still don't really do that and mine is almost 6.
Do what is most comfortable for you, and don't let yourself be pushed.

I had my son October 18th of this year and I still haven't gone out yet. Well I take that back, I tried to but then I kept worrying and thinking about my son and just ended up going home..haha I'm such a "mom" now. Hopefully once he gets bigger though I can start having more time to do things, but I really don't mind it.

It is never normal again. But you will feel more like leaving the house as time goes on. It is only comming up on the end of 2 weeks. Do it at your own pace.

well with my first I went out in the evening with my husband when my baby was 6 months, once, and then I think when he was about 10 months old we started going out more often. with my 2nd alot sooner, I felt more comfortable about it. you will start going back to normal when you feel ready, don't let anyone push you about it.
