...chocolate chips in your village, town or city or country ? My soon-to-be boyfriend (I hope) likes oatmeal cookies with chocolate chips and we haven't any so I need to know if anyone has a solution, like chop up dark chocolate wafers into bits or similar solutions.

Of course you can chop up dark chocolate wafers, my Darling. It would be better if you took a good quality chocolate bar -- semisweet or bittersweet -- and chunked it, which is roughly chopping it with a sharp knife (watch your delicate hands, my Love) but the wafers would be fine. Just chop them up too.
My grandmother used to pile everything she could into the oatmeal cookies when my uncles were in Vietnam. she called them Monster cookies. She dried all sorts of fruits, there were four kinds of nuts, and milk and dark chocolates. Of course there was oatmeal. There was so much stuff there was barely any batter. We children loved them.
I'm certain your Young Man will adore your cookies.... save some chocolate to smear delightfully on you. Have a good time. :)

Good dark chocolate, chopped into pieces is my "chocolate chip" of choice. I prefer it over any kind of mass-produced chokky chips.

He'll be a lucky boy. Oatmeal cookies with chokky chips are my favorite!

You know, you can feel free to test your recipes on me.... I don't mind being the guinea pig.... *wink*

We don't have any shops in our village, but nearest town is only 10 minutes cycle away.

BTW, if the oatmeal cookies don't work, I've got a great recipe for leg-opener chicken.
